As liason between the Harlan Festival Committee, Dr. Gail Morfesis was instrumental in helping us arrange the musicians and repertoire for the 2007 events.  In this photo, Gail is accompanied by Clara Atkins-Pope on piano during the Saturday morning Student Festival Day, held in the Godbey Appalachian Center of SKCTC, Cumberland.  For this concert, Dr. Morfesis and Mrs. Pope  performed  the hauntingly beautiful song, “Summertime” from Gershwin’s  opera, “Porgy and Bess.”
