The Appalachian Center
The Center's mission is to promote the preservation of the Appalachian culture by stimulating artistic expression, to serve as a resource for the region's history and cultural traditions, to provide a forum for the arts through cross cultural experiences, and to promote the arts in education.
Adult Basic Education
Our Adult Basic Education is dedicated to providing leadership and support for an education system that enables adult Kentuckians to acquire essential skills that promote economic vitality and improve the quality life. At ABE we value Excellence, Service, Teamwork, and Professionalism.
Lifelong Learning
We are dedicated to Lifelong Learning and provide programs that meet the needs and interests of the public. We offer professional development opportunities for persons in business, mining, surveying, nursing and education. Where appropriate, our continuing education offerings are accredited. Many programs are designed for persons who are interested in arts and leisure, self-improvement, and creative expression.
The Library
Each Southeast campus library is open to the community. Feel free to come browse our collection of books, magazines, journals and audio/visual materials. Library cards are provided free of charge. The general public is also welcome to use the library's computers to get online, type documents, or print materials.
Events
We offer several community events throughout the year. These events include the Swappin Meetin, the Cumberland Mountain Festival, the Mountain Heritage Festival, and the Miss Southeast Pageant. We also offer several theatrical performances in Cumberland and Middlesboro. The community is welcome to tryout and become a part of these exciting performances.
The nursing program at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College is structured as an academic/career mobility program and provides a seamless educational option in nursing with two exit points allowing students to choose a career as an LPN or RN. The application deadline for the SKCTC nursing program is March 1.
Test scores of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College allied health students taking national board exams continue to be impressive, according to college officials.
Black Mountain Resources, LLC, has given Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College a gift of $70,000 for a scholarship endowment and for current scholarships. In addition, Black Mountain Resources has pledged an additional $40,000 for scholarships to be given over the next two years.
