Appalachian Studies

Appalachian Studies courses aim to help students to deal with the humanities of their own culture.  Course topics cover the basic areas of religion, history, and geography; judicial, political, and governmental structures; literature, cultural anthropology, sociology, and economics, regional communications (both oral and written); background and history of music; and background and history of arts and crafts of the Appalachian region.

Southeast’s Appalachian Studies program is also involved with the Appalachian Teaching Project, and is the catalyst behind a variety of student projects.
