Community Projects

The Appalachian Program coordinates ongoing projects engaging students and the community at large in the culture and history of the Appalachian region. These projects emphasize local production of new art and new cultural events. Work in this area includes: exhibits in the Godbey Center Gallery, the production of theĀ Higher Ground community plays, theĀ Crawdad series of student-driven arts events, community art projects in photography and tile mosaic, and Southeast's participation in the Appalachian Teaching Project, an Appalachian Regional Commission-sponsored forum for regional college students to discuss the future of the Appalachian region.
